81st Edition of the Tour of Somerville makes history with back-to-back winners in both the women’s and men’s pro races.

In its 81st edition, the Tour of Somerville once again proved why the historic race remains one of the most sought-after wins to criterium racers around the world. Deep fields in both the Pro Women’s and Pro Men’s races featured National Champions, Olympians, and many of the strongest criterium teams in North America. Aggressive racing and primes kept both races animated from the opening laps, but despite repeated attempts to force selections and establish breakaways, Somerville’s fast and wide circuit once again favored patience and positioning. In the end, both races returned to a familiar Main Street script, high-speed field sprints where timing, teamwork, and lead-outs ultimately decided the winners. This year it would be two familiar faces both taking back-to-back wins with Marlies Mejias Garcia (Team Twenty28 Pro cycling) and Lucas Bourgoyne (Team Cadence Cyclery) executing their sprints to perfection.
